George "Ray" Blankenship

Decatur ~ George “Ray” Blankenship, 88, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, December 2, 2020 due to complications of COVID.

Ray was born in Dallas, Texas in 1932. Ray proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War, worked as a Texas highway patrolman and retired from Lockheed Martin. He served as a deacon and was an active member of Sycamore Baptist Church in Decatur, Texas. Ray was a committed volunteer at Wise Regional Health in Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dayton and Rosie Blankenship, and his brother, Jack.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Martha Blankenship; his sons, Chuck Blankenship and wife Terri, Mike Blankenship and wife Lori, and Jerry Blankenship and wife Lori; his grandchildren, Rachel James and husband Sam, Katie Fatum and husband Alex, Angela Blankenship, Justin Blankenship, and Joseph Meador; his great-grandchild, Naomi James; and a host of friends.

Due to COVID, the family will be having a private Graveside Service at Bourland Cemetery in Keller.
